Tossing around the idea of buying a DPMS Oracle. Not knowledgeable regarding AR choices. Thoughts?

I love mine and would surely buy another. They sure seem like a lot of gun for the money.

Spend the extra $50 and get a Ruger, or better yet, the S&W sport II. That'll get you a nitrided barrel.

Or save that and put towards a new trigger...
Aint many factory guns have nitrided barrels on "normal" guns...

The wife's rifle has an Oracle upper. The bolt carrier needed to have the gas key re-staked, other than that it has been good. Nice lightweight package.

This!
I would absolutely buy another (I've got the 7.62). I really enjoy it, but I've been setting it up for long-range and the trigger really doesn't bode well in this configuration. Its a great looking firearm and extremely well built.

I think there are better choices in 5.56, but my best friend has the 308 in 18" barrel w/ Miculek brake, sold as a 'Mass compliant' Oracle model. It is a shooter!
Using Federal blue box Power Shok 150-grn softpoints, after break-in using mil-surp Australian surplus, he shot a witnessed 10-shot group measuring 1-3/8". Now that aimt stellar for some, but a benchrest shooter he ain't - he's a hunter - and to shoot a 10-rnd group like that using $14/box hunting ammo ... and wow.
Using that gun, I shot a few 1/2 MOA groups w/ Fed GM 168-grn match ammo. He now reloads for it, for hunting, and is printing 3/4 MOA groups at 200-yds, the longest his range has. My range goes to 600, but we haven't shot it there ... Yet.
FWIW he topped it w/ a Leupold Firedot 1-5X, IIRC, and I love that illuminated feature that 'goes to sleep' (standby) if you don't move the rifle, but it wakes up as soon as you move it. Sweet for stand hunting use!
All of my MZL'drs will shoot into ONE ragged hole ALL day long ... it's just those darn 2nd & 3rd+ shots that tend to open up my groups!
