Retired a few years back and have some extra time to fully enjoy some trap shooting.Used to shoot my field grade remington 1100 12 ga. 30 inch vent rib barrel.Long story short wanted to get a Trap only shotgun wild hair in my ass I guess. This weekend went out and bought a new browning citori XT trap grade 1 in 12 ga.It seems to shoulder/handle well. When the weather breaks a little headed to the trap range.

Sounds like a great way to start - of course around here it didn't happen without pictures!

Be ready to miss a bunch until you get used to the difference in pattern placement between your 1100 and the new XT. Can you get down on the stock and line up the rib? I never could on a Browning; I would have had to remove a good 1/4" of wood on the comb to get down to seeing no rib.. Make sure you pattern it a few times before you go out. IIRC they pattern between 60/40 and 70/30 - probably closest to the latter.. Nice shotgun though - with good quality innards.. Make sure you place a dab of moly grease on the sidewalls of the breech so the metal won't gall. It'll probably take about 3-500 rounds for it to break in properly. Have a ball!!!!

You may hit better with the higher pattern on the browning - I put shims in all my field guns so they shot like my trap gun.
It's much easier to hit a raising bird when you can see it.

some firing pin issues have been plaquing xt's. light strikes is the key issue. it tends to be shells by brand. its so much an issue, many gun part websites are back ordered for pins. might want to visit some hotter shotgun websites and get the full skinny. good luck! shoot straight.

Sounds like fun. I hope to try out my Browning model 5 "the light twelve" from my Dad. None of us kids were ever allowed to shoot it before. Now it's mine, and I'd like to see what it can do.

crossover is a good gun. a buddy got one and he handed it to me on the skeet field. I went straight without a hitch. it just shot perfectly.
