I've been using Reminton 700's my whole life. I do like them. One thing, I have never liked the safety on them, I don't much like one that locks in the trigger. I do like the Winchester 3 position safety that locks the bolt. Now I see this GENTRY CUSTOM LLC - REMINGTON 700 THREE-POSITION SAFETY SHROUD. Has anybody used one?

No but if I still had a 700, I'd consider getting one. My 700 discharged once while I was closing the bolt, unloading it. I'm certain I didn't touch the trigger.
Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Why would you close the bolt to unload a 700?

Why would you close the bolt to unload a 700? I've got an ADL so I cycle the bolt to unload the magazine.

Yep, I've had a Gentry safety on a couple of 700's. They worked great.

You only need to pop them free of the mag... Yup. I unload my 660 by pushing the cartridges out of the magazine with the bolt and dump them without chambering any of them.

Yep, no need to shove one up the spout unless you want to get angry at something.
Safety is the mantra and you lessen the chances of bad sheit happening if you keep them out of the spout.

Im a fan of ADL mag boxes.
I have been told so many times how unsafe it is to have to cycle all the rounds thru the chamber to unload them.
I have shown several people the safe way to unload a ADL they always seem baffled.
I've always been different with one foot over the line.....

Just push the bolt forward enough to pop the round loose and then turn the action sideways to dump it out. Repeat. I have come to like a floor plate so they can be dropped out with the push of a button.
You'll shoot your eye out

if it isn't an arm and a leg, I think you talked me into one... Regular is $154.99. For me it's $144.80. LE discount. http://www.brownells.com/rifle-part...ree-position-safety-shroud-prod6668.aspx

My gunsmith charged me $175 for the safety and installation on the last build he did for me. (An Interarms Mauser action).

Be a lot if you have 10 Rem 700's like I do to get those safety's installed. They sure look cool.

They are an answer to a question not asked. I have a rifle with one installed. I'd not have one done again.

I agree with Steelhead. I've had one, did nothing for me, won't have another.

They're primarily made for those shooters who firmly believe the Winchester Model 70 safety is the best ever--but somehow don't believe all their rifles should be Model 70's.

It works, just have never figured out what the magical 3 position safety does for you. A waste of money, period.

I don't chamber a round until ready to use it. Any safety, especially one out in the open like that, can be popped off by something brushing against it. I would rather have the bolt un-cocked so it won't open and dump a round if the handle is snagged, etc.
