My son has a Para-Ord 1911 that shoots high. we're looking to replace the front sight with a shorter sight (can't mill off the current front, because it would get into the green dot).
He'd be happy with a simple black sight, but we don't know what to order.
I've heard that different 1911's have different sight cuts - hence the question.

PS - Are sight heights measured from the very bottom of the dovetail, or where?

Does need to be taller. Clean it add a dab of JB Weld, tune with a file untill it hits where you want. Now you know how high.

My bad - not fumble fingered - more like "fumble brained" this AM.
You guys are right.

Shoots low - we'd have to get about 1/2 way into the green dot to hit.
