I ordered one, I wanted to know if anyone had experience with their Creedmore lolipop sight, and the globe on the front?

Not the sights, but I had a flintlock .54 and it was a peach, after I drilled out the touchhole to 1/16" and coned out the back side until the metal around the hole was quite thin. Before doing that, ignition was very spotty. After, it was fast and sure, to my ear as fast as percussion. I also had to fit a higher front sight, but your setup likely won't need that.

Ross Seyfried has (or had) one and killed an ancient mule deer with it. His article in Blackpowder magazine is where I got the dope on the touchhole.

Only problem I had was that the neck on the frizzen had a casting flaw and broke. The replacement I ordered from Flintlocks, Etc, was a perfect fit, repair time about a minute.

Seen where Clay Smith has one up for sale. Nice looking rifle!

That is the same model. The target version just includes the creedmore sight and the globe front sight. I don't know if the factory sights are the best choice. I guess they are period correct for shooting matches in Europe. My application would be whitetail in Pennsylvania.

I unboxed it yesterday. It is a high quality rifle. Sparks like crazy, and the trigger is very nice. Fit and finish are top rate, and the case color parts are very cool. But to be honest I like light rifles. I have other rifles to hunt, so this may be a target rifle only. I guess these are used in Europe for period correct matches. So I expect it will do good at the range. I ordered the correct Creedmore sight, but I don't think I will mount it on this rifle. I'll probably put the peep sight on a Jaeger. I have next week off, so I will be running some balls through it.

Do you have a Pedersoli Jaeger? I have been drooling over one for a while now. If you have one can you post pics?

I paid $429 for my Mortimer from Cabelas. Sold it for a bit more a few years later when I was scraping up cash to keep a son in college. Doubt I'll ever pay the going rate for one nowadays.

My Jaeger is actually a custom build. I just took the Jaeger to the gunsmith to install aperture sights. I think the sights I ordered for the Mortimer may fit better than the sights I have reserved for the Jaeger.
The Mortimer has a dual folding leaf and a nice high blade up front, so it really does not need an immediate upgrade. On the other hand, my eyes can't see my Jaeger sights that well.
The same sight I have pictured above is a factory option on the Pedersoli Jaeger, and seeing pics of that combo, I want to try it on my Jaeger.

I bought a used one because I agree the new price is too high. New they are 1525 at Dixie, and that kind of money could go pretty far with a custom rig. Because I paid a used price, I am pretty sure I can get that money back if I wanted. So I don't feel the money issue too bad, and it is my birthday gift to myself. So kinda a no risk treat. Glad I got a used one.

Where did you find a used Pedersoli? Do you have a place that deals in used flintlocks? I ask because I am looking at getting a cabin/land in PA. I really like the idea of your flintlock season but I have no experience with them.

Most gun shops here in PA have flintlocks. I don't speak for the whole state, but I have used a flint all my life. I spend the most hours in the field with a flint.
I found mine online with a google search. Dixie Gun works often has some on sale. http://www.dixiegunworks.com/default.php?cPath=701_704_706

It depends on what you want, and how you hunt. We chase deer here, so that is a tough job. Tougher with a big heavy rifle. So Lyman Deerstalker, Thompson Renegade/Hawken, and RMC accusporter tend to be the most affordable and popular. Probably 1/4 of the guys have a custom rifle in my extended hardcore hunting crews. I guess I hunt with 50 guys in a few different gangs. Some I don't see for a few years, and then some I see almost every season. So even among the diehards, Thompson Center is probably the most common. I personally think the RMC is the best tool, but probably the least traditional. RMC is compact, fast LR lock, Green Mountain barrel with speed load and fiber optic sights. Popular again because RMC was down the street, and in fact they are starting production again locally, hence their popularity with younger guys. A Jaeger is in my opinion a really good fit for the hunting style around here. Of course if you hunt from a stand, any size rifle is not a concern.

Shown in the first pic on the last entry. The barrel starts in octagon, the is cut to 16 sides, then a wedding ring to round. Pretty neat machining.

The captive keys were a neat surprise when I unpacked it. I never saw that before. Again they are over priced, but they have a lot more manufacturing and detail than a Lyman GPR at 650.00.

I am thankful/glad that I have enough spare cash to buy nice guns like the Mortimer. I am off next week, so my vacation will be at the range, and in the local mountains hiking. Better than plane tickets to some beach for me.

Expensive, maybe, but not overpriced at all. True, you can get some entry-level customs for about the same price, but not with the same level of detail. I spent $1500 for a NIB Browning Low Wall last year and don't regret a dime of it.

Mine was an awesome shooter. Bet yours is too. 100-120gr of FFG for hunting, 60-70gr for targets.
