Twenty five years ago you could travel to Eastern Montana and find unlimited dogs to shoot and have land owners ask to chip in for ammo costs,my have times changed.Stopped at a local hardware store in the small town where we hunt and asked the owner if any of the local ranchers had a p.d. population they wanted thinned out,he said ya but 80 to 90% of the ranchers charge between $150 to $200 dollars a day to shoot p.d's.Its not impossible to still find non-charging ranchers, but it's getting tougher every year.So my advice to folks who wan't to venture into dog hunting is to get off beaten path, hit the back roads, and start asking, once your in at a place the rancher usually has some willing neighbors.Good luck, time spent looking pays dividends,or you can open your wallet.
