My late brother was a very avid reloader, and had a ton of stuff. After his death, his wife asked me to help sell all the reloading supplies and related items. I sold a lot of it, but there were a lot of things that no one around here was interested in, so she just said keep what you can't sell. Recently, I found 850 75 grain HPBT's in 223. I have no idea who the maker is of these bullets. So, does anyone have any experience loading bullets of this weight in a 223, and any pet loads to share.

you're gonna load them in a 223 ? have an 8 twist barrel ?
If you do you'll need a powder such as Varget or similar...
Otherwise list them in the ads 'as is..unknown mfg' at
one lot/one sale at $15/100 + $8 ship...hope that helps..
sorry to hear about your brother......

Hornady 75 hpbt will shoot in 1-9" twists. What's the over all length of the bullets JamesJr?
H335, CFE 223, Leverevolution, RL-15, 8208xbr etc. would be a good list of where to start.

They are .98055 in length.

I would think they would be Hornady 75 gr HPBT. In my Stevens 200 (9 twist barrel), they shot great with either 22.6 gr of XBR 8208 or 24.5 gr of Varget.

Could be prvi or hornady bullets, you can tell them apart by the base but they shoot the same for me. 24.4 varget works good

I tried some loaded with 24.2 grains of Varget in a Rem Model 7 1-9 twist. Accuracy was so-so, not very impressed. This rifle shoots 60 grain Sierras into itty bitty groups.

My 1 in 9 twisted Howa gave 1 3/8 inch groups with them at 100, My AR 1 in 7 shoots them better than ahy other bullet, around .7 at 100.

My 8 twist .22-250 Shilen/Mohawk will shoot them half inch over Varget.
My 8 twist .Brux/M-7 .22-204 handles them equally well, just not as fast.

If these are Hornady, then I had good results with them in a 1:8" 24" barreled AR using both TAC and XBR 8202. This was for a local league where we shot out to 600 yards. I don't have the load data at hand but it was near max.
I shot the same loads in a Savage 10T with 1:9" twist and 26" barrel but only at 100 yards. They were very accurate at that range but I have no idea how stabile further out. I would have tried at greater range but circumstances prevented me from shooting the league this year. Maybe next year.

I have used the Hornady 75 gr gr HPBT with success in a .223. In my Stevens 200, the pet load is 22.6 gr of XBR 8208 or 24.5 gr of Varget. Either charge yields me 2700 fps out of a 22" barrel. Out of a carbine AR, I found the magic load to be 23.2 gr of XBR 8208.
