I am new to lever actions but want to pick up a big bore lever for woods hunting. I have yet to handle a Marlin but picked up a Henry with a 20 inch barrel and it felt good. Which of the two tend to be more accurate and reliable?

Thanks,

Dan

I have a remlin 1895 GBL in 45-70 and it shoots groups at a 100yds that I can cover with a quarter. Very accurate.

the biggest difference...tube fed Henry......

Marlin side gate........

Before I'd buy a new production 'RemLin'...I'd look for an

older pre Remington 'JM' Marlin...plenty on GunBroker...IF

you can find what you want...18" Guide Gun ? SS or Blue ?

Henry builds a very fine rifle.....quality fit & finish...

Buy a Henry LONG before the RemLin.....I only have one Henry 22

I would pick Marlin hands down. I have had 2 Henry's in the past, both broke ejectors. I also used Marlins for a long time and never had parts breakage unless it was a rifle that I used in cowboy action shooting that had very high round count.

I have had several of both and for me the Henry's have been more accurate but I find it easier to dissassemble/reassemble the Marlin 1895, the new Remlins I have owned were very nice rifles indeed...I like the Henry tube feed better (easier to unload) and I have seen some trouble in the past with the loading gate rifles.....Both are great rifles and you really cant go wrong with either......Good luck...Hb
