Looking for a general idea of value. I don't know the year of manufacture it appears to be all original and good shape. What is a general basis for value on this rifle?

If you would share the first three numbers of the S/N, some one would be better able to help.

Pictures would be even better.

There are to many variables to give a value based on the information given.

"pre 65", is it a pushfeed rifle? I'm assuming you mean a 1964 model?????

Assuming pre 64 fwt and 30/06 only - these are my VERY general estimates (and there are far more knowledgeable posters here, so this is worth what you paid for it!)

Rough - 500-700
Shooter - 700-900
Nice, all original, no mods, normal hunting wear 900-1000
Very nice, little to no wear or bluing loss on aluminum 1000-1200
Nearly perfect; safe queen 1200-1600

So, depending on lots of factors, a rough estimate for you might be $900-$1200 ... but more info and pictures would sure help.

Pretty good rough estimate. We also need to consider what year it was made. The earlier fwt's were more sought after and fetch a higher price. I'm talking '55-'58 (aluminum butt plate models), before the plastic/composite butt plate. There was also a big change in the stocks in general after '59 as well, the checkered panels were smaller and the wood in general didn't seem to be as nice as the earlier models. Believe it or not, Winchester skimped on some of the last ones '62-'63 as well and some of the small parts were not as robust as the earlier ones. OP, like AKwolverine said, pictures and more details would be helpful...

AKwolverine's estimates are pretty close to what you will find, not too many out there priced less than 1K. The guys tearing them down and selling parts have significantly reduced the number of shooter/hunter grade rifles. About a month ago I lucked into a shooter/hunter for right around $700.00. It had a recoil pad and the finish had flaked but the bore and metal looked like the rifle had not seen much use.

Heck, I had a pre-64 FWT 30-06 with Leupold scope for sale at $1000 at the end and no one even asked about it. So it can depend.

As you found out, the market is a little soft on them right now........ Take the leupold off, it might sell quicker that way... laugh whistle I just saw your add too, no pictures and you say $1,000.000 + shipping. List it with pictures and set your price to include shipping and you'll sell it quicker.. Serious about the scope too, pull it off and sell them separately...

Can't put pictures on the fire. I believe I said I had pictures to email if interested. Taking the scope off might have worked, but then no one seemed interested anyway.

Why can't you post pictures on the fire? That's the easiest way to get something sold. There isn't going to be a lot of interest with no pictures. Just a simple fact of the matter..... wink
