I want to decrease a pre '64 Fwt. down from 5 to 3#'s if possible. I've done it before but its been awhile. Does someone have a link to a tutorial to show this? Thanks.

Ask redneck. He may or may not help you out. It can be a touchy subject for him... All's I can say is I set mine at 2.5 pounds and they are sweet. Did you buy another 270 fwt???? Last I remember, you sold 2 fwt's and Shrap is loving the hell out of 1 of them.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

You can back off the adjusting nuts (away from the spring), or you can use a lighter spring. Sometimes a lighter spring is an easier solution than backing off the nuts, if you want to get to a really light pull weight.
If you live near Woodinville, WA, bring it by the shop and I'd be glad to help you with it.

And yes, found another sightless Fwt. .270Win. which appears to enjoy 150 NP's. Course, would never use that on elk as another "hot thread" goes on elsewhere here. Thanks all for your assistance, I think I should be able to get it done and pass the safety checks.

I had some pics but deleted them. Will get a few taken the next time I get to the range and post them here.

I was pleasantly surprised...

I have at least 10 pounds of H4831SC so I won't be deviating.

Good smith walked me thru it a couple days ago. As usual you need the right tool. Easy use of a fine polishing stone on the sear, another light hit on a polishing strap, followed by some nut change adjustments took a 5.5lb pre 64 down to 2.3 on the pull scale.
Not hard, but I wouldn't go at it without the right stone and a scale to see where I was at.

Night and day. I could make it work, but you had to work at it. When I had him put the stock on I forgot to mention the trigger. Finally got around to making the 1.5hour drive.
Funny thing was, I walked in and the first thing I saw on his table was a McMillin Sako stock with a 24hour Campfire sticker.
