Damn it Bwinters. I had no intention of spending $255 tonight, but I also have a set of denali's heading my way as a companion to my perfekt hikers.

Just got the Perfekts this afternoon and took them out for a 2 mile walkabout.
I used a medium wool sock and everything went "perfect".

for those that were looking at, or ordering those Mendl boots.... maybe PM Talus and ask him about his experience on the three pair or so he had to send back due to coming apart on him.. three in a row, and in short order...
just hate to see someone else get as frustrated with them as he did.... it was something of a shocker to see him walk over and put his last pair of boots into the campfire in front of 15 or so other Campfire members...
and of course he was asked and explained why...

Had my Cabelas branded Meindl's on yesterday. Still no problems. IME, they are not built as well as Meindl, Meindl's but they have been a good boot for me.

and of course he was asked and explained why... Jeff and I had the same thing happen to us. The Miendles you are talking about have been discontinued. The issue with rand seperation is not a problem with the current ones.

Maybe but for $255, a lifetime guarantee, and Cabelas normal CS, I'll take that chance. If they only last a couple years, I'm still pretty good because I don't get huge wear time from my boots. I always figured there's a $50-75/yr depreciation on boots - they don't last forever.

???? Is that true? I would not lifetime warranty an iron horse shoe used in our yard games. Some of you youngsters really should jump on that.

I've had a pair of Cabela's Alaskan Hunters for about 7 years, never leaked and I bird hunt 3 days a week minimum from October till mid March, never leaked and never had a problem. They are a little heavy but they protect my feet from rocks. Thw rubber band around the bottom looks like it's separating. About the Lifetime guarantee, it's bullshit! I bought a pair of Gore Tex Coveralls for about $325 at an end of season season sale in 2007. I've worn them maybe 20 times, look like new. While hunting in Pa. last year it was raining pretty hard and I put the coveralls on. Sat in a chair under a Gunbrella and after about a half hour it felt like my underdraws were wet. Snaked my hand down there and yup, soaked.
I tried to bring them back to the Hamburg store and they said "if there a couple of years old we won't warranty them".. I wrote to Cabela's HQ, telling them I didn't remember when I bought them which is the truth, they said "you mean the coveralls you bought in 2007, you have outlasted the life of the garment, we won't take them back"!
They say they can never tell you when you bought something when you lose the receipt but they can tell you when it was bought to tell you you outlived the expectancy of the garment! I always thought Lifetime meant "forever"!
