G1548075 serial number is what year? I think 1981, is this correct? What's the value for an above average rifle?
Thanks Steve

Actually, according to Winchester it was made in '82. The XTR fwt's in 7x57 demand more money than the more common cartridges like 270, 30-06 and 308. I've seen some of the nicer 7x57's sell for $750.00+ Here's one that sold, just a couple months ago, for $850.00: Model 70 XTR featherweight 7x57
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

The 7x57s and 257 Roberts usually bring a much better price.

The 6.5x55 XTR also commands a premium....

I paid $735 about six weeks ago for one in 223 Rem on Gunbroker. Made in 1988 but condition was about new. It came with Leupold rings, bases and a leather Hunter sling and swivels.

I thought that I read somewhere the featherweights in 7x57 made in 81 or before demand more money. Thanks

But only by true collectors who know the ins and outs of Winchester's history. I'm pretty sure yours was made with all WRA parts, but by USRAC. They called this the transition era in the early 80's because of the change in hands and using of old parts... Your rifle is still worth quite a bit, considering it's rare chambering and era it was made in. I'll bet it is a beauty too, as the XTR featherweights were some of the nicest model 70's made IMHO...

Gee,
I am lucky to have 3 featherweights... all from the 80s..
223
7 x 57
6.5 x 55...
Paid $300 for the 223 and 7 x 57, rural Oregon... neither one used much...
6.5 x 55, $500 with a Leupold 6.5 x 20 Scope on top and shot out barrel... was an 06, but rebarreled it with a 6.5 x 55 chambered Pac Nor Barrel...
