To me it would depend on if you are keeping it or selling it.

What are these 541S's worth these days? I've always admired the lines and I've come across one in excellent condition with an outstanding stock.

Can't help with price but that one is very nice looking! Yours, or one you have found that's for sale?

Great wood on that one. Better than mine. On Gunbroker they run from a low of about $750 to over $1200.00. No plans on selling mine, I rarely if ever "flip" a firearm. But I will try and keep a "keeper" stock. It will get shot bunch however..

I believe on Rimfire Central Remington Forum there is a thread about that particular rifle being a scam. The picture was lifted from Rimfire Central of a member's 541T and the seller is calling it a 541S in the ad. Be careful dealing with this seller....

I have the 541T - and it's only been fed Eley match ammo to date.. I used it for the 22 cal turkey shoots in this area.. My son brought home about 7 turkeys one Sunday using that rifle..

About that bullet lube...

Some years back I investigated subsonic rimfire ammo and found that Wolf Match Target gave excellent accuracy with a 541-T which I no longer own. I noticed the slick-as-owl-snot lube on the bullets, too. What really surprised me was that after shooting several groups with the Wolf ammo, I could fire just about anything else and get one outstanding group and then accuracy with that ammo would revert to its usual mediocre state. I can only conclude that the lube from the Wolf ammo was temporarily conditioning the bore and making promotional rimfire ammo shoot *lights out* temporarily. Other rimfire enthusiasts say they have seen the same effect.

when i was a wee lad my uncle gave me the choice between a stainless 77/22 and a 541-T for my 11th bday to use in 4-h competition. we both decided the 77/22 was the more sturdy choice. we werent wrong, ive still got the 77/22 and always will. BUT ... kinda wish theres a way i could have gotten BOTH ...

For some reason I was certain I only had one 541-T and thought I'd sold the other one a couple years ago..

Digging through the safe I couldn't remember what that other HB rifle was.. Eased it out and found out it WAS the other 541-T..

Hell to get old.. Now I'll take some pics and post it on Gunbroker along with another Rem 22 I've had since I was 14.. smile

Don't need two 541-Ts..

I too agree on the need for a few shots before a barrel settles. Regardless of make or model, all of my 22LR's need 15 to 20 rds down the pipe before settling in.
