I know they have the Hammerhead and Super Hammerhead. The HH seems to be a semi-spitzer and the SHH a spitzer.

Anyways, are they somewhat like a Norma Oryx?

Thanks

What cartridge and bullet weight are you looking at? I shot some deer with the 180 gr Super Hammerhead in 30-06 and was pretty impressed. They kind of reminded be a bit more of the Lapua Mega bullet, don't think they open as wide as the Oryx. Either way they are good bullets.

Are they available as a loading component?

Scott,

They're indeed somewhat like a Norma Oryx, though from my relatively little experience with them they don't tend to open up as widely as Oryxes, and may penetrate deeper.

My only experience with them was during a Sako/Tikka trip to Finland a couple years ago, where several gun writers toured the plants, did some range shooting, and some hunting. The Hammerheads were very accurate in the rifles we used, all naturally Sakos and Tikkas. Only three animals were shot during the hunting, two small whitetail bucks and a good-sized calf moose. The bullets exited all three animals, but other than that I didn't get any details, despite being only a couple hundred yards from the guy who got the moose. Two of the animals, including the moose, were the first big game the hunters ever got, and in Finland just about anything is worth a celebration, and all three occurred very late in the day, so I didn't get many details on rifles, bullet weights, etc. But almost all of us, except those who brought their own rifles, were shooting .308's or .30-06's.

I did take 4 deer with those 180's for what ever it's worth. Glad MD had a similar impression of how they work.

FYI you may like this bullet coming out soon.
