I found a Buck 112 folder at the local bargain basement for $6. They must have thought it was a Chinese copy priced like that. Got it home to clean it up and found the lock did not function.

Called Buck to see if I could send to them to repair it figuring I'd still be ahead. They told me it had a lifetime warranty and send it in.

Got it back yesterday. Works like new, they buffed it and it gleams, did a complementary sharpening, and included a 25% off coupon on next purchase.

I like Buck knives!

There is a whole lot to like about that experience. Good for you and for them to treat you so well.

I have to admit I don't have a lot of their stuff...might have to work on that.

They have a great Eagle Scout program in wich they engrave the model 500 for free. Look into it,the cost is basic for what you get. We get these done for our Eagle scouts.Real nice touch to addto their court of honor

I thought I got my old 110 folder in high school (69-72) their web says 1972-1986 so must of been my senor year.

I bought two Model 110 Bucks on eBay for almost nothing. One had a broken blade and the other had the blade worn down from a grinder. Buck put new blades in and polished them like new for $10 dollars each. They are a great company.

Buck is just about all I buy anymore, but I stick to the models made in the USA.

Nothing wrong with Buck, but a new 110 with leather sheath is under $30 in a lot of places. $6 for an old 112 with a broken lock is probably a fair price.

But, it's brand new now!

112s cost a little more than 110s for some reason. But I'd still have jumped on it for $6 too, and mailed it off for a rebuild.

I really like Buck knives too.

I bought my first Buck, a 112, from the Ship's Store the first day I boarded the USS Enterprise back in 1973. It was my go-to/only hunting knife for a good 20+ years and it never let me down once. It now has a sweeping curve to the blade from many sharpenings but hesitate to send it in for a blade replacement because it would not be the same knife anymore. Since then I have used many knives . My best friend gave me a 110 made with a CMP-154 blade and rosewood scales but is way too pretty to hunt with and went back to the 112. Last year I bought one of the new model 117s and really like how it fits the hand. Hope to blood it this year.
