When I was 18 I coulda pulled myself up around there lickity split. Now barring a miracle I'd fall off that thing and be dead sure as the sun comes up. You couldn't pay me enough money to be put in that situation!

The problem with even a good harness is you can only hang for so long before you cut the blood flow off from your legs and permanent damage can result. Better than the fall but hang long enough you can lose one or both legs. eek

Newer lanyards are better at absorbing the shock load.

We all could do that when we were 18 - we were protected by the laws of young, dumb and bullet proof! Now if that were me there'd be a hole in the ground! whistle

I hear ya, but not all. Have you looked at some 18 yr olds today? Heck 12 yr olds for that matter. About as tough as tub of marsh mellows in water.

6-8 hours with a CAT tourniquet on, I'd think at least as long in a harness

A good lesson here for all the tree stand hunters too, wear those safety harnesses.

No. Suspension Trauma can kick in after 20 minutes of hanging.

Yup!

That could ruin his whole day.

Do we have any details or any idea how it turned out?
