If'n you weren't so...uhmmmm...unhandsome, I'd kiss you!
Took my 257 Roberts to the range today, after a hiatus of about 3 years, after having had little luck getting a group worth mentioning from my Ruger MarkII. My only excuse was a severe case of Cataracts. Got that sorted out.
Then, I recalled reading your words, printed somewhere in another lifetime. You were of the opinion that any 257 Rbts. that wouldn't shoot well with 43 gr H4350/115-120 gr bullets, and ~46gr with a "good" 100 gr. bullet...there was something wrong with the rifle. (Or, the shooter...in my NHO.)
Well, anyhoo, I got to the range today, and the fellow who has a sighting-in business there wasn't busy, so he clamped my rifle in his machine rest, and let fly! Four rounds 100 gr Sierra, 46 gr H4350, .010 free travel, Winchester+P brass,CCI primers...and the group was ~ 3/4 in @100 yards. Happy? you bet! Now all I have to do is shoot to my rifle's capabiity. Again THANK YOU!
What's the worst thing that can happen? O.K., what's the next worst thing?

You're welcome! Those Mark II's generally shoot very well with the right load.

Yes, thank you...you've really helped with several guns that have been nitpicky or there was lack of reloading info for.
The E.F. Hutton of reloading as far as I'm concerned. When he talks (or writes)...LISTEN!

Mr. Barnsness has been helpful to me on several occasions.I appreciate that he has always taken the time to promptly answer questions without the least hint of ridicule.

DF My apologies! I copied the spelling from the post rather than checking. I hope the sentiment is not tainted.

Indeed I am! It's been mangled in many ways over the years. But when accompanied by thanks or compliments that's just fine.

Oh, Barnes is a very mild mangling. Then there are the "nickname" versions. When my father was in high school his was Parsnips, but by the late 1960's mine was Brassnuts....

John got me in to reloading with all his talk about the 257 Roberts. I bought a Kimber Montana in the caliber. Then I looked around at was was available and decided I better learn how to reload.
