Guys, I have about 5 pounds of ramps in the refrigerator waiting to be cleaned tomorrow.

My usual custom is to eat only the bulb and part of the stem but this year thought I would cook the tops or at the very least use them raw in some fashion.

Hoping some of you guys can offer up some suggestions for the tops.

Thanks, Denny.

I eat tops and all when I eat ramps. My favorite way is just sauteed in butter of with scrambled eggs or fried potatoes. Just had some this morning.

I've never had the pleasure of eating one but I do however like all things "pickled".

I bet a couple would serve as fine accoutrements to a Bloody Mary.

Never had them Denny, are they similar to a salad/green onion?

Very unlike scallions/garden onions. More like garlic.

I guess I understand the earlier dragon breath comment. Last Saturday I had two radish sandwiches and half a dozen green onions on the side for lunch. We had steak and morels fried in butter for supper. I belched after dinner and Lori left the room. Besides that I got a little gassy. Ya gotta be careful when your eating "gassy" stuff along with stuff cooked in butter. Especially at my age! smile

Not even close, Mike. Chewing/ingesting ramps opens new horizons in the halitosis dept.
