Anyone have any experience with one of these? I saw one at a local store with exceptional looking wood and am intrigued. Don't need one but for some reason I have a whole lot of 28 ga ammo and no gun to shoot it in

Not the 28, but a buddy has one of the 20 gauge and it's held up damned well. He got it almost all duck season, and has put 500 rounds through it on the clays course so far this spring

I had one a couple of years ago. I liked it, it was very stiff when new and didn't really loosen up. Light, fit well, but I lost interest in it and sold to get some cash for an old A5. But good quality , Turkish made, and they do tend to use nice wood on them. Now my 28 is an old High Standard "Pointer" pumpgun. I have WAY too much in it, but I will keep it and use it.

I don't own one, but we've sold quite a few here where I work (don't tell the boss I'm on the 'Fire) and I've been pretty impressed, and I freely admit to being a gun snob. We've had a couple that had wood that would make Beretta envious. One of my buddies bought one in 28 and took it on our annual quail "hunt" in February. It performed admirably. They are so light and nimble that if we get another .410 with exceptional wood, it might just follow me home.

while i have never seen one in a gun store, i did run in to a man shooting one during a pheasant hunt last year. his was a good looking gun and he had no problems killing birds the day we hunted together. i handled his 555 and didn't see anything that would deter me from buying one if i was an o/u guy. go ahead a get one. we all deserve another gun.

There are still plenty of reports of them doubling.
Stevens 555 double fire

I would not touch one. If you want a inexpensive double look at CZ's. They have a very good reputation and CZ's excellent customer service.

Heavier sear springs fixes the "problem." In a gun that light, the factory springs are too light to hold against the inertia of the gun moving under heavy loads.

The other "problem" is that so many people pull the trigger and hold it back. That will usually cause a double fire with a mechanical trigger system in such a light gun. Not really the gun's fault.
