An owner of a five acre ranch or a district attorney or a walla walla insurance salesman would be beneath me shocked

Sometimes when I get discouraged at my current job I think back to some of the jobs I have had over the years, and suddenly things arent so bad.

There are some I would hate to do - dog catcher/ pound worker would be at the top. I'd really really really hate to have to put animals down as part of a living.

Don't think I'd like that job,

But I wouldn't be embarrassed if that's all I could find.

Besides, I could get peoples attention with the bumper sticker I'd throw on the back:

Your s--t is my bread and butter!

My father and I never got along.

I'll thank him forever that I've carried skills that kept me employable and active through some tough times...

Sales of unsafe or overpriced products. Especially such things as legal but unsound financial and insurance programs. There are honorable people selling decent insurance policies and financial products, but there are others that are barely worth the paper and ink used. It is hard for the average person to know the difference.

Pissed off to do, but not embarrassed. I sang with the Navy Band for 20 years. Sang at Nixon's funeral, and after, it started to rain. We were in choker whites, and we're ordered to move about 100 wet and muddy potted plants, for some reason. That pissed me off. Then, they forgot to send a bus to take us back to the barracks. Nice.

I worked in women's salon doing bikini waxes in Ocean, City, Md. Sometimes when the wax was applied to the hair line the
juice would start flowing from their happy place. I should have gotten phone numbers.

One of the most important things I learned from my father is that it is never embarrassing to be dirty or smelly due to your work. I've done a lot of jobs that were unpleasant or smelly, catching turkeys, gutting fish, running offal to the rendering plant, etc. None of it really bothered me. As long as it it's a job that serves the community, I'm fine with it.

One job I'll avoid to the last, however, is fiber glassing. Hot, sweaty, nasty chemicals and odors and I always end up with crap on my skin and everywhere, no matter what I do.

I am not sure I should answer this question-but you asked. I don't wear short pants or drive a riding mower,so any job that would combine the two might send me into therapy (and the floppy hats and sandles would make it even worse, folks)

Have been working since age 13. Have had at least two sources of income (sometimes three) since wife and I got married and started having kids. Everything from scrubbing garage floors in a truck shop to shoveling silage fed cow manure on a dairy farm. As above, the only thing I have been too proud to do is collect a check. Had an opportunity one time when primary job had a forced furlough. Went out and hustled up on Job#2. Made more money on Job #2 than the going unemployment rate for Job#1 during that time period.

Not rich by any stretch. But all of the material things that God has seen fit to bless us with, the wife and I have worked for with our own labor.
