LH Model 70 magnum length action
McMillan Supergrade stock, sniper fill, with a Picatinny rail embedded in the foreend to take a light (ala Phil Shoemaker) or a sling swivel base.
Lilja stainless barrel, installed by Redneck, cerakoted by Charlie Santoni
Talley bases and QR rings
Zeiss conquest 1.5-5x (a tragedy that this scope is no longer available inasmuch as it works much better for me than any of Leupold's 20mm objective lens offerings)
There are only a couple of rifles that I have built that are absolutely perfect in terms of their intended use, and this is one of them. Usually I wish that the balance, or weight, or some little feature was different. The weight is right at 10# ready to rock, which is spot on for this caliber.

I'm finally about done with my 14 year old sons 7x57..just in time as we leave for our colorado elk hunt next week and the boy needs a little trigger time.
I only had 4 handloads sitting around so after getting it on paper pictured is the first 3 shot group. At 7/8" I think it's showing a bit of promise.
the specs:
mid 50's M70 fwt action
krieger cm fwt barrel @ 23"
talley barrel band
williams 1pc BM
bansner stock w/decelerator pad
talley 1pcs lwt mounts
leupy 4x33
it weighs 7lbs 8.3 oz. as shown
Lee did the barrel, chambering and action work, eddie did a great job on the cerekoting.
I bedded it and painted the stock.

Looks good handwerk! Planning on something very similar myself. The red pad looks good btw.

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

Thanks for the compliment, but a picture of a grinning kid holding a rifle over a 70# whitetail doe beats it any day.

Gledeasy--Those Borden actions are sharp!

Handwerk--I really like the color scheme on your boy's gun. Gradous is building me a 25-06 along the same lines. Hope to have it time to do some coyote hunting this winter.

This is the newest build off of my old Model 70 Classic that I had rechambered in 7mm STW (I shot the barrel out).

This one is also 7mm STW. Model 70 Classic action trued and blueprinted. Obermeyer 5R barrel at 1:8.75 twist. Mcmillan A5 stock and Loggerhead cheekpiece hardware (13" LOP, 70% black and 30% medium gray), bedded with Devcon 10110 (best bedding compound ever). Pachmayr pad. Aadland rings (good grief, these things are meaty). Nightforce, 20 MOA rail (Devcon bedded) under a Sightron SIII 8x32 MOA scope. Jewell trigger. Tubb firing pin.

Shoots .55 inches at 250 yards with the 162gr A-Max at 3220 fps out of a 24.5 inch barrel (Remmy Varmint contour). 76.5 of IMR 7828 at 3.635 OAL and the Federal 215M primer. Remmy brass. Hates bumping the shoulder .001 inch and prefers a full length size with setting the should back to factory. Action screws at 50/20/50 in/lbs.

Sooner or later our heritage of hunting is going to be a rich mans sport and the words "Outfitter" and "Hunt Industry" will be synonymous with cancer and A.I.D.S. among blue collar hunters like me and my family! (A.L. Williams - 2010)

I have been a member for maybe three weeks and still have yet to post up something. I am wondering how the owners of these lovely rifles get such good pictures of the guns. How do you get the whole thing in and have it be of good size such that we ain't looking at little more than a stick against a grass background? Is there an optimum distance from which to stand and an optimum angle from which to photograph from that distance? Can we post up more than one picture? Thanks.

Got a response today to an email sent to Lilja, yesterday. The barrel for my .358 Sierra Stomper mildcat will be ready to ship about February 22. Ship it straight to my gunsmith, and I expect to go get it in the first week to ten days of March 2013. Reamer, forming dies and reloading dies should be ready around that time, too. Have been half-forming brass for the round for a month or so. The Stomper uses much of the same case geometry as my functioning 300NDM mildcat, so I can get the brass somewhat down the road to save a bit of time once the stuff to have it all come together finally gets here. All I need to do now is order the recoil lug and muzzle brake. Will have to wait until Spring to have Lee Precision make a Factory Crimp Die for me. They're swamped, right now, with making stuff for the coming selling season...
