Got me a new deer killin' machine yesterday at Cabela's. Ruger All American, .243, stainless steel for $299.00. Gotta get it scoped up and see how it shoots.

GG, The Ruger All American is a really NICE rifle. I have looked at a few of them. You did well, grasshopper.
What kind of scope do you plan to use?

I like them as well. I don't think you can get a better rig for the price. We are going to get my GF's boy one soon. He earned half of it and got the other half from birthday money.

I'm thinking of getting Jack one in the compact version. If I can get the princess interested in firearms, I'll get her one in lefty. She's a fan of the Savage Axis in pink though. smile

GG, I just bought that same rifle, the Ruger American in .243. i am going to use my discount as a Firearm Safety Instructor to buy a Leupold VX3 in 4-14X40. The discount is 45%, so it is pretty affordable. I am really looking forward to shooting it. We should collaborate on what boolits are shooting well or not in it.

it pretty much does smell like open sewers. a lot of their what they call septic tanks are above ground and most leak. doesnt help that it doesnt matter where people stop and go to the bathroom either or all the wildlife running around the streets. i dont do the curry here. i tried the first trip to say i did. the second i tried a few more things, this time, i just hope to make it home not sick. i like the american food way better!

For now, I have a Cabela's Pine Ridge 3x-9x to put on it,but will be saving up for a Redfield Revolution 2x-7x or a Leupie II.

I'll start with factory ammo, as I have no brass to reload anyways. If I can't find a factory load I'm happy with, as soon as I accumulate 100 rounds or so of brass, I'll consider reloading. I always start with the cheap stuff first until I work into a load I'm satisfied with. Probably start with standard grade Federal, Remington and Winchester, and move on from there if needed.

Really look the Redfield over good before you buy . I have a Revolution in 4x12 not real happy with it .Its definitely not the same quality as the old Redfield stuff. I will either but a Loupy oy a Nikon next time I know they're or better scopes for the same money .

Just 1.5

I'm a bit surprised by that comments on the revolution. I have one, bought in 2010 I think. I like it a lot! It's a 2-7x33. I like it better than the VX-1 I have. I think the Redfields have the same warranty as the Leupolds as well, they're made by Leupold.
