Too bad Dave's so good natured. If he wasn't we could call it "Crabby's Shack".

This winter has got the best of us. Just booked 5 weeks on the Texas coast for next year.

Patience and persistence finally paid off. I recently bought a Savage Axis down at Cabela's on clearance. After 3 trips back and forth to Gander Mountain for mounts and rings, it's got a scope on it. Started with standard Weaver bases-they were too narrow for the short-tubed Pine Ridge scope I had available to put on it. No problem-went back and got the extended bases, but figured I'd better hang on to the standard bases "just in case." I ended up using an extended base on the front, and a standard base on the back to make it work. Start mounting the scope only to realize that with 1" low Weaver rings, the bolt handle won't clear the back bell on the scope. 3rd trip to Gander. Ended up going with a set of Burris medium rings, as they appeared to sit a little higher than the Weaver's did. Finally! Everything went together, and the scope is bore sighted. 'Can't wait to shoot it this weekend. Patience and persistence, and thank God I wasn't trying to throw this together on the Friday prior to deer season!

Noduck,

I fished out of Cyrus. About 3 miles out after you cross Morris.

Fantastic perch Noduck! That is the biggest perch I have seen in a very long time. I bet that was fun when you started pulling them in.

I am finishing my bonus room (man cave) above my garage and am in bad need of a name there as well. It is going to be finished space with a couch and TV and maybe even a small fridge. Knotty pine on the ceiling, hand scraped wood floor, sheetrock walls. If any of you creative minds have an idea, I am all ears. the best I have so far is the Rooster Perch. I would prefer something woodsy, elky, deery, roostery or the like. I have very little in the way of a creative mind, so all suggestions welcome.

I had to laugh at Camp Chickenbuick, that was fantastic!

GG, nice to hear you have got it set up. Anxious to see some targets. You get yours dialed in, then I will get mine dialed in. Then we will compare targets. Your target at 300 yards and mine at 50 yards! I need to get my scope ordered!

Stan, you crack me up! Any time spent with a Beretta is definitely not wasted! I thought you worked in a gun store!!!!

Hey, I need your opinion. I have a Ruger .243 that I am gonna get a scope for. I am going to do a 4.5-14 Leupy VX3. Do I need to go to a 50mm objective or is 40 enough? Quite a price difference. I am really shading towards the 40. What is your opinion?

Yes.40. 50 is cool looking and is necessary in some cases but I think a 40 would be sufficient for your needs. It's hard to do better than Leuopold.

40.

50's are for kids that work at gander mountain and shoot beretta's.

Well, I dont work at Gander, but I do shoot me a Beretta if you can believe that!

Good, I am glad it wasnt an overwhelming consensus that I needed the 50.
