They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

Every year the Barossa Light Horse Troop in Adelaide remembers the service of their horses in what is believed to be the only Anzac service of its kind with a dedication to the animals.

Is this your week Big Jelly or is it next week? If it's windy and rainy, sit the fields first. Rain brings those birds to the fields. Don't feel too badly if you don't see them by 7am. They may still be in the trees. That happens a lot on windy, rainy days. Like us, they sleep in and fly down later in the morning on gross days.

Wind...well wind sucks. Do what you can.

Yep. It starts tomorrow morning for me and the boy. After I had that big Tom gobbling at my crow call from my truck last night I am pumped up! I have a friend in real estate looking up the landowner for me where he was strutting around. I can't seem to find the birds on my cousins land where I deer hunt. Not sure where they went but it happens every spring. They just disappear for some reason. confused

My 14 foot Lund Deep V is actually starting to look like a boat again instead of a lawn ornament. It sat unattended for 10 years while we chased our daughter all over the upper midwest for the last decade as she played fastpitch. The critters had their way with my boat. I've taken two whole garbage cans full of black walnuts, and a garbage can full of chewed up styrofoam which used to be floatation from the bench seats. The wiring's destroyed. The bunks on the trailer need replaced, and I haven't gotten near the trailer wiring yet. Hoping to get the seats put back together and go to work on the motor this weekend. It's a long road back to a useable boat.

What type of bird might that be, BM?

Paul, your ANZAC day is something I'd like to raises glass to. I hope that's acceptable.

We of course have our days of remembrance in the US. It is important.

Here's to the men of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

Something clever here.

Heading up north at first light for 5 days of turkey camp and trout drinking. Got the wall tent packed with the cylinder stove, cots, bags, bourbon, some Buschy Cubes, venny tenderloins, duck, perch, salmon, and pheasant. No veggies, just man food. Unless of course you count Cheetos...and maybe Bloody Mary pickles. It's been a long winter...can't wait to pour 3 fingers of Woody Reserve, fire up a nice cigar, and relax with my two pards over a roaring fire. See you guys next week-

Fluffy-I'm putting the boat back together "on the cheap" as I plan on upgrading to a 17 footer next spring, so I'll go whatever route's gonna be the cheapest, but the LED's sound like a plan for down the road when the next rig needs re-wired. I can't believe how bad the critters tore up the boat's wiring. Whole runs of wire are completely gone-as if they actually ATE the wire.

Drove over to the Wolf River in the New London. WI to observe the Sturgeon Spawn. This is one of just a few place in the country where the public can see the ritual.

Saw over a 100 fish some over 6'. Quite a sight.

How long does the spawn last at that location? Might be worth a road trip.

Well the Little League Mets had their first game today against the Pirates. The Mets won 6-4 in the top of the 5th. Yes, that's correct. The Pirates ran out of pitchers.

My best buddy Jack led off the game with a hard hit single up the middle. He stole second, then scored on another single hit up the middle.

The Mets had great fielding today. Several double plays between the first baseman, who happened to be my best buddy Jack, and his friend Vincent, on second. They've been playing on the same teams for a few years now and they play great together.

It was fun. Congrats little Mets!
