870 is my all time favorite shotgun.

They fit me like a dream & NEVER fail under adverse conditions.

That said, I might be in the market for a Benelli semi-auto when the funds come available.

We just put a new winch motor on Nathan's old Bellevue winch. It's ready for another 45 years of action now.

We visited with Muffy & Aunt Eileen earlier today as well.

They stuffed us with awesome food.

1 year ago today we lost Uncle Dusty.

Having a beer.

Something clever here.

Gonna have to find someone with a torch and get the 2" ball removed. 'Still have to re-wire the trailer too, but that's not going to be too big of an ordeal. Probably gonna take the truck in Wednesday somewhere to get the ball cut or heated off.

I had to use a sawz-all to remove one last year.
That might not be out of the question....

It's actually my rig-and I had thought of that, but the tongue on the trailer's welded not screwed together, and I'd rather avoid cutting it.

That's what I was thinking too Bill.

I was up in Amery, WI with the GF at her folks place. They live across the street from a lake. For opening fishing, there wasn't squat for people out. I saw 4 boats on the lake all weekend, and it's a decent lake to fish.

I talked to a parent of a kid on my ball team tonight. They have a camper up on Mille Lacs and he said the lake won't be open next weekend. Maybe some launches, but there is a TON of ice on it yet.
Why waste the time to drive up to Mille Lacs? The friggin' slot is ridiculous, and they took away night fishing. It's gonna be a bad year for the resort owners up there I think.

Arrived in the land of 10,000 lakes. Thanks for the kind words fellas. I'll be sure to tell mom. She's been here before...sister with breast cancer, another sister with breast cancer, her mom with breast cancer, she's had breast cancer, and her dad had colon cancer. Just her and her younger sister survived. All were from a small town that great grandparents homesteaded just south of where Northern Dave resides. Weird time in life going thru this stuff with your parents. I'm sure everyone has to do it at sometime. Circle of life and all that.

I will proudly raise a glass to Dusty this evening. A life well lived and not forgotten. smile

I might have one you're looking for. Has had 7 rounds through it. I'm hoping for round 8 on Saturday evening. But, I'd sell it.

Benelli American, SBEII. Black synthetic.

I have always said that the true mark of a man is how he lives on in the memory of those who held him dear. Dusty proves that.

Well said Stan. I never met him but get a very clear picture by the comments here of what kind of man he truly was.

Well said, sir. I'm heading to camp tomorrow morning for a bit of crappie fishing. Will have a few sips for Uncle Dusty and a few more for Dad, who never made it to camp. RIP

I'll be thinking about Dusty and our other departed friends, family and campfire members this weekend. Saturday morniing starts out as a walleye run for the opener, but will end up being a crappie fishing trip by about 9 a.m. I'm really anxious to get my boat back on the water.
