Here's a secret for ya.

I HATE powder coating.

lol!

There is NO superior magic and wonderment that is exclusive to powder.

Powder coating is a buzzword phrase that has been experiencing a free ride in it's perceived awesomeness for far too long IMO.

Sure it's ok, but it's not magic by any means.

To be honest with you, most powder job shops are going to screw up the cure and or the pre treat on those parts and you'll see flaking, chipping, rust blisters galore etc.

You can coat this thing properly on your own.

We can have a chit-chat at camp or over an email or phone call or what ever.

It's far too boring and technical to get into here.

grin

Son and GS spent part of the weekend getting the GS rifle sighted in. They also booked their flight to WI for the Nov deer hunt. Going to be a great camp with 2 boys to keep us on our toes.

Good things just seem to pop up.The contractor who redid our kitchen two years ago became a good friend in the process. The other day he dropped off a rifle at the house while I was at the shop. Linda was getting an estimate from him on some additional work which she wanted done(groan!). Anyway he left the rifle and when I got home she was all excited as to how nice it looked.
It is a beautiful little Winchester Model 94AE ,trapper, saddle ring in,of course, 30-30.Topped off with a Nikon fixed 4X with see thru mounts. VERY nice. I called him tonight and made him an offer which he took.
I have two other 30-30's.A Stevens bolt action and another 1970's vintage Winchester model 94.It's a great caliber to reload and I can use pointy bullets in the bolt gun.
I have never deer hunted with a short Trapper model.Guess I will have to correct that oversight this year.

Have you ever had one of those days that you look back on & think "that was a really amazing day"?

The great feeling about that is tomorrow will be even better.

My two-year slump may be over. A great weight has been lifted & I feel free again. smile

I'm so giddy that I can hardly sleep.

Hey ND. I'll be in your area tomorrow. Will the coffee pot be on or will you be at the salt mine?

Really looking forward to this season. Will be the first time I get to hunt with my GS. If WI hadn't put the mentor program in I'd have to wait another 3 years.

Judging by this response, I don't think we would be too far off to assume that you are not to happy about it either whistle

Dave,
I had a thunk about your shop construction. I have seen a few places that have lights in the floor that shine up. Have you thought about installing any of those?

Darn rain is holding up a lot of building projects. The contractor that is going to replace our back door was going to put it in Thursday. Called yesterday to cancel because of the rain in the forecast.

damn rain...

But in other news I will be heading up Northern Dave's way for my first fishing trip to Lake of the Woods, not sure if we will catch any fish, but the soon to be Brother-In-Law has a boat he really wants to get in the water again this year. And my wife's sister has volunteered to watch my little monsters for the day.........

You should have an awesome trip. The area is flooding now & the lake is WAY over full which might disrupt the catching. A lot of docks under water & sandbagging efforts in the area.

The biggest issue I've heard is catching too many slot fish & not being able to keep a limit of keepers.

Good luck!

Heard a bit about the flooding, ironically after I posted this, we will be leaving out of TRF and driving up for a late moring early afternoon fish. I will be driving most of the way across North Dakota, and then to TRF to kiss my wife hi and goodbye....

we thought about taking the kids with us but he built a house this year, and I have not left mine other than work....so it will be an adult and me

bubbajay, drop me a pm and I can get you my phone number if you guys want some local fishing "numbers" (coordinates) to try.

It's going to be interesting getting a boat in the water, water is flooded to tops of ramps, they have steel barrels full of dirt or water or something on top of docks holding pressure down on them.

Be careful up on plane, help your boat driver watch for floating junk, lots of crap out there floating around now.
