Tom, this is just free ice that the Xcel gives to the NHL Alumni once or twice a month for a beer-league type skate, not an actual charity game, so I don't have to try to catch rockets from guys like Phil Housley and Reed Larson.

Since I didn't play in the NHL, I bring the beer....

On an on-topic note, am I the only one really freaking jacked about deer-season?!?!?! The new house has great storage, so I can just pull out tubs of hunting gear and organize it, drool, fantasize about being in the woods, etc.... Thinning the squirrel population with a .22 pellet gun, while helping my shooting I am sure, is NOT helping with the pre-season excitement.

I'm pumped from the deerless land. More bear pics, not a single deer. Or married one.

Right there with ya buddy. Can't wait to hit the woods. Plans have changed a bit for this week. 'Got a service project after church on Sunday, so I will most likely run up this Wednesday instead.

Take some of this trail ribbons down so a plane doesn't land on that logging road. grin

I actually pulled the trail cam sd cards and scouted a different area all together. This will be the last season there for me. In fact, it will be the last two days. The rest of the season will be scouting/hunting a few miles away.

Thought I'd put a couple reflective tacks out by the trail head and then start the tape about 100 yards in. I agree on exploring greener pastures. Too bad it's come to that, but it is what it is. Thinking I'll use my other opportunities to explore some other areas too.

I did find an active clear cut and talked to the logger. He was in there trapping beaver yesterday afternoon. There are some swales and cedar swamps. There is a ton of other untapped areas where I built a blind. I'll be doing a lot of still hunting during the week.

put your first few tacks right above the ground.
much harder to see,if your not looking for them.

Hmmm did anyone else hear that???

That sound of a blade slicking across a stone...

Huh...maybe it's just me but something's in the air....somethings different....

It's snowing outside right now and all I seem to be able to smell is wet wool....

I think this week has been to long....

I started using those tacks a few years back and really like them. They don't show up as much as the trail tape does. Good point on the first ones being low. Much easier to spot.

Actually the tape Tom's ragging me about HE put up! In his defense, I think he did do it so I could find his stand when he let me hunt out of it two years ago.

I had a doe and two fawns come out on Saturday. It was right at dark. Legal to shoot but I just couldn't see good enough to shoot. I tried again yesterday and didn't see anything. I'm going to try again Friday night. I have a good feeling about Friday!

I miss Bill

Grizzly type.

I miss a lot of folks, but Bill would be in here amping up the deer season enthusiasm.

Something clever here.
