What a great project for you and your son...even if it's sort of a "busman's holiday". Great work none-the-less, part elbow grease, part pure art.

Leaving before dawn for trout and turkey camp. I think this is our 31st year. Wall tent, stove, wild game dinners, libations, and hopefully no freakin' snow. It's been almost exactly 6 months since deer camp. I need to do something manly - fart when I want, pee where I want, and spit for no good reason. It's been a long, cold, and hard winter.

Yes, he is getting tall. But in all fairness he is wearing cowboy boots and I am wearing flat house slippers.

White Bear is better equipped to handle the mini van. He's got an excavator...

My old computer crashed and I lost a lot of my pics. I'll dig around and see if I can find my mini-van vs. excavator pics.

BTW I'm up to a couple of excavators and a dozer or two so I'm well equipped to handle a mini-van, or full-sized for that matter.

Both. It was very enjoyable moving this vehicle around in such a manner considering the previous owner. smile smile

HBD Roosta!

Well, turkey/trout camp was sort of a bust game wise. Turkeys were hurt bad by the hard winter. 40" of snow on the level there. Coyotes did the rest. Seems the Toms shutdown after leaving the roost because the coyotes dial in on them. Heavy snows meant no food for the turkeys or coyotes, so the dogs keyed in on them. We had a huge pack sounding off around us every night. Trout were hard to come by too. Cold water, big steelhead and suckers in the traditional holes kind of tunred them off.

We ate very well. Lake perch, deer heart, tenderloins, backstrap, Bloody Marys with homemade pickles, smoked round of venison, taters, you name it. Awesome!

Came home to coach my boys little league game. Ended up in the ER. My kid took a hot one-hopper to the pie hole. Split his lip wide open on the inside. Had to get stitched. He took it without anesthesia. Tough little bugger. Looks like he went a coupla rounds with Tyson though. His meals the next few days will come through a straw. And so it goes...

Here in South Carolina turkey season started April 1st. and ended April 30th.Seems like everywhere else that the turkeys have been hurt a lot by depredations of coyotes as well as other predators.Add to that the rainy weather and my season was a total bust.
