Rooster,
Antelope is one of the best tasting wild game meats you can have.I don't know where your friends got the idea that it wasn't.I almost prefer it to ELK but not quite.

I've had some bad antelope too.
my brother and I each shot a doe out of the same herd, one was delicious the other was not at all. I've had elk that weren't so great and deer that weren't good, so I guess it can be any game species. I do know a bad bear is absolutely awful

I had some sandhill Crane last week and that was pretty good considering what they look like. Ribeye in the sky! had some fried and some smoked. Tzone, is that ranger ready to go yet?

It is a silly fish that is caught twice with the same bait!

Buschy, long time no write.

Heck yes the Ranger is ready. I'm not going on the opener, I'll let you kids sort that stuff out first. I'm hoping to hit Mille lacs the weekend after though.

Nobody wants to go with me though, maybe it's because I tell em they have to fill the boat with gas? grin

Hey, I got in my boat last nite! Under the water toys, elk horns, goose decoys, inflatable swimming pool, etc I finally found the keys. My boys now have a fascination with keys. Not good.

I wont be out this weekend either. Gonna do the garage sale thing and get rid of some stuff.

Ooooh, gas for that boat is gonna not be pretty Tzone! You will soon separate the true friends from the leeches. I brought a guy to Mille Lacs from work once. We had a great time, caught some nice fish. He has always wanted to go back, but I always seem to be busy....and that aint no koinkydink.

I have two trips planned. First is a trip to the north arm of Rainy on the Canadian side. The guys cabin is about 40 minutes from the landing. A bunch of guys from work are going and it is a fun trip. Then Dad, my brother, uncle, cousins (2) and I are going to Cedar Lake Manitoba fer a week. The uncle and cousins didnt go last year cuz of Cole (one of the cousin's is Cole's dad). We have been doing it a long time so we are alll looking forward to it.

If I get gas today, it'll run me $151 to fill it up! I don't know how long a tank will last.

I'm hoping to have two trips to Mille Lacs in a few weeks. Then I'll have a week in Hayward on the Chippewa Flowage in June. Almost certain to use a full tank when I'm on the Chip because we'll be doing the family water ski/tube thing there too.

BM we should make a trip to ML when the muskie season opens.

There are a few lakes around here that are decent for muskies, I'm sure you know which they are. I'd like to hit them this summer too.

I was throwing a big stickbait for muskies on one of those lakes you mention Tzone and let loose with a big pitch. halfway out, a hen mallard came flying by and I grazed her with the bait. She chirped and I laughed. Glad I didnt hook her!

Ha. A guy I used to fish with claims he hooked an eagle once. It sure sounded like a tall tale to me though. I don't know what I'd do if I hooked a bird.

Pretty big storms moving through here now. Sirens going off, kids crying, the whole works.

Pretty wicked looking sky, not much rain falling and not much wind, the kind of storm that you want to pay attention to.

Keep the storms over there Tom. The wife and I are flying out Wednesday to Oregon. Watching the grandson while mom and dad head off to Africa. I may be missing in action for a while.

So durring my duaghter's (CTM-cries too much)softball game tonight we got a good crack of lightening. She's on deck and both coaches call the game at the same time. She runs over to me (crying of course) and hands me the bat and says "here Dad, take this." I asked "what do you want me to do with it?"

Still crying of course, "it's metal, you hold it! You're my dad, you'll do anything for me."

Momma didn't raise no fool! grin

Then I did what any dad would do....took her out for ice cream to cheer her up. I will be the first to admit it, she's my Princess. Appearantly, she also knows this. grin

what are gas prices like up that way? down heree its the cheapest I've seen in a while. it was 3.53 in rapid city yesterday, I shoulda filled up there.

we've had some humidity and dark clouds but no rain really to speak of. little showers here and there. otherwise its been in the 60's and 70's with lots of blue sky and sunshine. I spent all winter holed up so I have a good sunburn going on. got my feelers out for a cheap aluminum boat around here so I can make it out on the reservoir. now I just need to find time. been up working before light every day and not getting home til evening.
