From Leupold's website:
"QR Mounts deliver repeatable accuracy With Leupold QR Mounts you can mount a scope, zero it, remove it, reattach it, and remain nearly dead-on with your original point of impact. The key is precise machining of the patented lever mechanism. Turning the lever forward engages the base of the ring, pulling the ring down and forward, locking it into its zero position. QRW/PRW Mounts Leupold accuracy in a cross-slot format Leupold offers a complete line of steel cross-slot mountsthe Leupold QRW and PRW mounts. Use the QRW mounts for detachable accuracy. They use an adjustable lever mechanism to lock the rings securely to the base. When mounted, simply rotate the spring loaded levers into the desired position to keep them out of the way." I've used the QR's, and like them alot; but the QRW looks bulletproof, and I like the way you can level the lever after its locked down. Would use these on something "tactical".

The QR rings use a fancy Leupold base. QRWs use a weaver style base.

I have the QRW bases and rings on all my rifles. While they weigh a little more than some others, they are stout. They work really well and have never failed me in the field.

I have the PRW mounts (QRWs without the lever) on my .338 Win. Mag. and like them a lot. Return to zero was perfect the one time I tried it.
I think I like them better than Talleys -- lower, and a lot easier to install.

I have always understood it as QR (Quick Release) and QRW (Quick Release Weaver).

Again ... mucho thanx! I'm thinking about the set of QR's in the classified for my Montana SA, seem like a good price. Waiting on word back from Txbbq to see which part number they are and hole spacing.

I have used both and preferred QRW/PRW because they allow you to mount the scope with lower rings than QR. The cross-slot base of the QRW/PRW sits lower on the base. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
