GA Precision .308, the load was 168 gr. TSX, 42.4 gr. RL 15, F210M, 2.791" OAL, Lapua Brass. Groups average .5" at 100 yds and 2780 fps. The shooter was one of my boys on his first hunt. Approx. 15 year old Cow bison at 200 yds, 1 shot to the front shoulders, no bones hit, complete pass through. The buff dropped in her tracks and stayed there. I had hoped to recover the bullet, but no luck there.

I am envious of your son's opportunity to take such a fine animal, and the velocities you are getting with the 168 grain TSX's. My notes show that I was only getting 2457 fps using 42 grains of RL15, and 2516 fps using 43 grains of RL15. I am shooting a 22 inch Ti .308, and using new WW cases and CCI 200's at a 2.81" OAL. I finally gave up on finding a suitable load until after hunting season.

Again, Congratulations!

I remember when I was younger it seemed that there were opportunities to hunt everywhere and see lots of good animals. Not so now, so my wife & I decided to start our boys out where they could be successful and have a good time hunting. I know if I had hunted a general area in Utah as they are now when I was their age I would have become discouraged in a hurry. We have plans to take our other boy to TX in Dec for his first hunt. I hope it's as fun a trip as this one. As for the rifle, it's a Sniper's Hide rifle built by George Gardner. I couldn't be happier. It shoots 178 gr MK, either handloads at 2740 fps or Fed Gold Medal factory load at 2715 fps, into the 3's & 4's & these TSX's into 4's & 5's. Others with the same rifle report better accuracy, but they probably have a lot more trigger time than I. That 24" Mike Rock barrel gives some impressive velocities.
