Does anybody have experience with the Blaser K 95 or any of the other German made single shots? I would like to know about accuracy, weight, recoil, durability ect.

I know some owners of the Blaser K-95 in 7x57R, 7mm-08 and 6.5x55, and a Merkel in .308 Win. All are very accurate and consistant from a cold barrel. And they are gorgeous!

Yes, those high end rifles are Easy on the eyes! At least I can look at pics and dream.....maybe someday!

Yeah, the prices are stout. They make a lower grade. I emailed blaser to ask about availability and they told me that only the higher grades were imported into the U.S. . I looked at a german site that showed a K 95 with no engraving,checkering, and plain wood. The higher grades while nice would be wasted on me. It just seems they would be great to use in rough country because of the weight and compactness. If you find any of those seeds let me know. I could use a couple of trees myself.

Wow! Would have to actually handle one to assess fit and finish. But superficially it looks great. Don't care for the European shaped stock, but I don't think I'd toss it if someone gave me one. Anyone know if the actions can take the big boomers??? 1Minute

Yeah, that thought crossed my mind about how you would likely NOT drag a nice piece like those through rocky mountain terrain, etc. Rain, snow, etc. would not be where I'd want it, but to take during nice weather, where your conditions were not 'risky' to doing too much wear on the wood, they'd be nice to admire awaiting your trophy!

I've handled them and thought often of getting one myself as I'm a Blaser R93 owner too. You could actually take that little K95 down (and advantage over the Dakota model 10 or the Merkel Stalking rifle), fit the parts in your pack for the long haul up the hill - lot's of pluses besides elegance and class.

The Merkel and the Krieghoff single shots both also break down. JB wrote about the accuracy of his Merkel in 308. I can tell you that his results are the norm with these rifles. I was surprised to find that my Merkel 308 shoots the standard Federal 150 grain loads right at an inch, group after group. It came with a Zeiss 3-12x56 that is too far big for this very slim and lightweight rifle. It does make getting good groups very easy but it looks just awful on the rifle. I did not know what to expect with the unusual method of breaching, but it certainly works.
My Krieghoff in 7x57 is the steel frame version and feels much more solid with its conventional lockup. The funny thing is that the accuracy is nearly identical with the two of them being among the most dependable hunting rifles that I own. Even though I reload for almost every other rifle that I own, these two work so well with factory ammo that I seldom feel the need for reloads to enhance accuracy.
They are very expensive but they do work and will be serving your grandchildren long after you are gone. If the style suits your needs, look for them used. I paid less than half retail with a little looking.

Oh, the actions can "take" boomers, 1Minute - but I don't think anyone would really want to, if they thought about it for awhile.

These European break-open single-shot rifles are all lightweight stalking rifles, designed for hunting mountainous game - so they're meant to carry light, and recoil likewise.

Even our own European-styled Thompson TCR can get near the edge of controlability, for anywhere near decent accuracy, with a cartridge as common as the .30-06 - especially with the issue iron sights ILO a heavier scope.

i.e. pull the trigger once! Ha! Sure the various companies who mfg the high end guns in big bore put more weight in them, seen some sweet looking doubles out there, 375.....etc.

Now the TCR, there is an interesting concept! Long ago, guy had one at the range, TC must have used a MATCH reamer as it would not accept the Hornady factory light magnum 308 he was trying to chamber/close action.....anyway, too bad they dropped it w/o giving it a better chance/more time for the market to accept. May have held promise, but I agree with above posts, looked up all the websites and did some research.....

Looking, dreamin', maybe saving for a day......still looking for those seeds to the poster above! Still like the looks of my K-1A 6.5x55 and love the caliber as well. Now what to scope it with......since I took off a lil 4x32 Nikon....time to get serious!

I have the K95 Stutzen in 308 and it shoulds wonderful. I also have a 19" 22 Hornet barrel that is one of my favorite carry about rifles. Another company in Germany sells a synthetic stock for the K95 as well. I would like to add one of these someday.

Interesting you said that 'syn stock' comment, as yesterday I pondered why Blaser might not do a synthetic stock production for a LOW cost version to penetrate the average consumer market/wallet, ie. Steyr and Blaser Syn stock bolts.
