Hi guys
Looking for some practical field experience with this bullet.
Wondering how it performed on game? also looking for loaded velocity recommendations.
Thanks Chris

What you have done is not nearly as important as how you have done it!!!

I can't tell you alot about this bullet but apparently they have come out with a tsx version of the old 300 grain hollow point designed for 45-70 velocity??
I have shot the older 300 grain and it was accurate. I didn't get a chance to take a deer with one but there is no doubt in my mind that it would perform wonderfully on anything right up to elk and probably buffalo.
I have loaded the 30-30 barnes hollow point for years in a buddies gun and he has probably taken 10 deer all with one shot and all with pass throughs and super accuracy. When developing loads for his gun we dug out bullets from the sandy backstop and they retained all their wt and had text book mushrooms.
Sorry I don't have more experience with the bullet you asked for but you weren't getting too much response. I would venture a 99% guess that the bullet would perform awesomely in the 45-70 with near 100% wt retention no matter what you run it into.

The guys at marlinowners.com and lefergunlovers.com have some experience with the 300g Barnes. They seem to like it. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to use it if I didn't have a big supply of 350g North Forks.

A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

I've seen it take a deer's head off.

My child bride drew a bison tag this year and is going to use a Marlin 47-70 for the hunt. I wanted to keep the recoil about the same as factory loads, but wanted good terminal performance on an
animal that size. Called the tech at Barnes and he suggested the 300 grainer at 1900-2000 fps. Should be effective on most large game including bison. Minimum impact velocity is around 1150 fps. He shoots this bullet out of his 45-70 at 2500 fps and describes the recoil as "snappy". Going to start loading this bullet and the Nosler 300 gr Partion this week. Let you the details later Mike
