Price and availability on the Smith M&P's has improved lately, the price gap isn't nearly what it was 2 years ago. You'd be well served by either brand.

I compared the Colt, Smith, Bushmaster, Olympic, and RRA. These were the only ones accessible in the area. I came home with the RRA. The trigger was the biggest thing that tipped me in that direction.
