I'm thinking on doing a bear hunt in the next year or so. Anyone have any experience with Red Willow Outfitters in Alberta? What are pros and cons of spring hunts, and fall hunts??? Thanks.

The pro's of a spring bear hunt.

They feed almost all day long
Great hides if shot early enough
Cooler weather in the mornings better for hiking ect.

The con's
Rubbed out hides as the season goes on.
Long tiresome days due to 20hrs of light.
Gets really warm in afternoons and carries over till evening.
The bugs are the chitts

If I were paying to hunt bears, I'd want a spring hunt, preferably in May.

What 7 said, as well as the foilage hasn't fully returned in the spring, making for easier spotting.

I'd rule out a fall hunt unless hunting them in combo with moose or deer ect.The one main reason is you'll be tripping over other hunters pursuing all spieces.

Not too many local hunters hunt spring bear. Here anyway. But all hunt moose and deer elk so the woods can get pretty busy.
