I recently fell into one of these HVA made in Sweden rifles in .243. Does anyone know what kind of aftermarket stock choices I have with it? I don't see much info around on these.

McMillan will inlet their sako hunter for the 1900 action which may be what you have. I had a Sweden HVA rebarelled to a 35 Whelen and put in that stock. I like it a lot.

Inspect the left side of your rifle's receiver.

If the side of the front receiver ring is a larger diameter than that of the receiver sidewall immediately behind it, any stock for a large-ring Mauser 98 will fit.

If the side of the front receiver ring is even with the receiver sidewall directly behind it, a stock for any small-ring Mauser 98 will fit.

Any stock may need some fitment, especially in the areas of the barrel contour and trigger mechanism.

It should drop in any stock made for a M-98 but the area around the front ring will need to be filled in and a notch will need to be cut for the safety.

the bolt release on a hva is different than a 98 . would probably need to inlet the relase on a 98 stock which would leave a gap where the 98 release would be.

Gentlemen;

There were 4 different actions used in Husqvarna bolt action rifles. If the .243 barrel is original, then that narrows it down to 2 possibilities. We really need pics of the action to say with certainty what stock will fit.

Here ya go. The action is a Carl Gustaf HVA that I picked up from a pawn shop. Crazy smooth action that was origianlly an 06. I had it rebarreled to a 35 Whelen using a Douglas #4 at 23". I then applied Duracoat. I would have somebody else apply cerekote next time.

You can pick a stock for your HVA 3100-series rifle from several styles here:

http://www.rifle-stocks.com/bargain_list.htm#hva

This link is to their bargain basement, but they also have other sections of their website.

Here is what mine looks like: Most I've seen have serial #'s on the barrel, this one has serial # on the action. I have 0 experience with these so if anyone can tell me anything about it that would be great.

that is the 1600 action, also 3000, 4000, 3100, 4100, depending on where it was sold and the stock configuration. Yours is the later model with alloy floorplate/triggerguard, and you need to specify that as well.

any stock that can be inletted for a standard large ring can be inletted for yours, mcMillan has the program for it.

as mentioned above,it can also be bedded into any synthetic stock for a large ring 98, you only need to fill in around the receiver ring and relieve for the right hand side safety, as well as fill the inletting for the 98 style bolt release lever and cut a small notch for the HVA bolt release.
