I am selling or trading a TCR-83 Aristocrat.

It has two barrels - the Thompson factory barrel in .308 Winchester (23"), and a .257 Roberts Ackley Improved (26") barrel made by Virgin Valley Custom Guns. Both barrels have a high polish that matches the receiver.

It has the original factory 3-9x40 Thompson 'scope with duplex reticle that came with it, as well as the Burris base that I think the factory was using at the time this rifle was made. The .257 barrel has 'scope and a Leupold base on it.

Being the "Aristocrat", it has the double set triggers that work excellently. The rifle is in perfect working order. The .308 barrel has less than 100 rounds through it; the .257 RAI barrel less than 50.

Here are pictures: http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o266/paulskvorc/TCR%20Aristocrat/?start=0

I am actually more interested in a trade than a sale, but I'll sell it for $1300. Please don't ask me to reduce that price as that price is at least $300 below Blue Book when the Virgin Valley barrel and the original 'scope are considered. I will not sell any part of the set separately. If you could even find someone to do it, you'd be hard-pressed to get a new barrel, especially one in the original high polish, for less than $500.

In some recent correspondence with prospective traders, it has become clear that there are many folks that don't know the difference between "Contenders" and the TCR (Thompson Contender Rifle) series of rifles. There are two TCR series - The 83s that were produced from 1983 through 1987, and 87s that were produced from 1987 to 1991. (That information comes "straight from the horse's mouth".) THEY ARE NOT "EARLY" CONTENDERS. This rifle is the '83 series, Aristocrat model - meaning it has dual set triggers, cut checkering, upgraded wood, and a raised cheekpiece.

Here are some other TCRs and used factory barrels for sale at GunBrokers that you can compare to what I am offering. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/SearchResults.asp?SearchResults.asp?SearchType= 0&Keywords=ruger+No%2E+1

In trade, I am only interested in single shot rifles that are not bolt action.

Thanks,
Paul

1lasportsman - Yes. However, it is so small that I didn't notice it 'til you mentioned it. It is NOT a structural "thing". I am CERTAIN that is is due to the extreme low humidity in my house. I am equally certain that it wil close up if it were in a more humid environment. This crack was not there the last time I shot it - years ago.

Valleypigs - Yes it's still for sale. I am interested in No. 1s.
