Krapp you guys! You know I'm on the wagon, and I've got some frozen Almond Water, Irish Creamy Stuff, and Marula fruit juice all in the freezer....waiting for me!
JB got me off the wagon last week, so if this conspiracy succeeds...you'll be in good company! laugh

No Spud2O frown

I did however finish off the last of the Johhny Walker Blue, and I'm now halfway through a 6er of Mikes Hard Lime.

This not working all week has me just about beered out.

I needed to celebrate though... The 4 week rebarrel job (that started back in January) is finally done on the 2nd Montana. Tomorrow, I'll be at the smiths bedding it.

I'm hoping that the chopping out of the last bedding job is the reason its shooting like a tired factory tube (don't ask...) Best group today was 1 1/4" Speeds were good though.

There is a booze made from the fruit of the Marula tree in sub-saharan Africa called Amarula...ladies LOVE it, and so do I...
I equate the taste with " love in a cup..."
I hounded the liquor stores in Mt. long enough, pretty much everyone carries it now......
Just a little hotter..like its sposed to be tommorow, and that Mikes Hard Lime might be good!!!

Any of you fellas care to learn me up on a 3 WT rod? I have a 5 and a 7 now, both two piece, both 9 footers, and I do well with both of 'em on the lower lakes, and bigger water. But I'm feeling pretty bad about swatting high altitude (attitude?) cutties with the 5, it seems a liitle big. Specifically looking for info on length. Is longer better, say 8' 6", or should a guy go to a 7 footer. Also, do the number of pieces mean anything anymore? 4 vs 2? I think I'd like a 4 just cause it would pack better.

Thanks.

R.

Length will depend on how it is used...longer for dry fly presentation and/or belly boat/toons, shorter for walking up the little creeks....
If you are packing into high lakes, the 4 pc. makes sense, but its tough to find a 3 wt. in anything but a 2 pc... so theres your quandry...
I know on the creeks my little 6 ft. 3 wt. gets me long enough casts ( up to 30 ft.) and anything bigger than about 14 inches on it turns into a rodeo...
I just like light tackle.....

For cutts, you start out with the high end St Croix blank in a 4 Wt (9 footer for all around use) Then spend another 150 bucks on hardware and have your local rod-builder make ya's one. I've been spanking Cutties with the same rod for 6 years now.

Even on a 4 wt, the 2 footer I caught last Sunday was a total rodeo. I had to let him run into the backing twice before I could land him. Like Ingwe says, there's something about light tackle. You need to know you're game or you're going to lose a lot of schitt.
