I've got a 22/250 that I would like to outfit with some powerful glass. Looking at prices revealed that the Weaver Grand Slam 6-20X40 is priced really low relative to other scopes in that power range.

I'd like to put a Leupold 6.5-20 on the new rifle but I just can't afford it right now. The price is right on the Weaver but I have no experience with them. What say ye?

I have one on my Savage 22-250. I really like it. It's clear and tracks very well. I don't have any high end variables to compare it to, but to me it is a good scope. I have the varminter plex in mine and really like it. It is thinner duplex style reticle with a dot in the middle. Works great on targets and prairie dogs.

I have owned the 6.5-20 vari xIII and the 24 BRD leupold. I replaced them with 6 - 20 grand slams. The eye relief is about 3" on grand slam which is fine for non magnum rifles in the smaller calibers. The Leupold has eye relief thats all over the place when changing power.

No experience with Weaver, but I'm a fan of Bushnell Elite scopes. An option in the same price range might be the 4200 series in 6x24...

There's a variety available in both 40 and 50mm, and various reticles.

The Elites have excellent glass, IMHO, and stand up very well.

The 6500 series is probably even better, but considerably more dough.

I think I've got about 8 grand slams including 2 of the 6.5-20's.
I really like them but they are a little short on eye relief especially the 6.5-20 model.

One of my 6.5-20's is on my 260 VLS and I shoot 140's without the scope biting me. I have put the 6.5-20's on larger rifles during load development and been hit by them though.

I too like the varmint reticle and the glass is good and the clicks are right on. I've haven't had a problem with any of my grandslams yet.

I've also got a grand slam 6.5x20 on a savage 22-250 and like it a lot, great bang for the buck. I previously had a bushnell 4200 6x24 and like the grand slam better, plus it costs less.

I have a Grand Slam 6.5-20x40, Bushnell 4200 Elite's in 6-24x40, Leupold VX-III's in 6.5-20x40 and a Burris Signature Select in 6-24x44.

The Grand Slam has the best glass with the Bushnell 4200 a close second. All are fine scopes and we all know about Leupolds warranty but if you don't mind the funky look of the Grand Slam it can't be beat in that price range.

The newest Grand Slam is the 4-14 Tactical (800475T) This one has the tall resettable towers & mil dot....Not in the 6-20 yet...thats my only complaint with the GS series....not tall resettable towers...I have one GS in the 3-10x40..very clear glass...

My brother has one on his 338. I was surpised to see how clear it was. Every bit as good and maybe better than then the Leupold VXII, but I didn't have them out to compare. Very sharp to my eyes.
