I picked up this new McMillan off the classified's here from kenaiking for my 375 Ruger Alaskan. I'm glad that I did as this Ruger feels like a whole 'nother animal. It feels like I have a 243 in my hands or something. Incredible balance and feel to it. My only complaint is the factory finish on the metal is total crap. I might give all the metal a good scrubbing and have it bead-blasted. I'm anxious to kill a bear with this setup.

What are the specs on the stock? I'm thinking of ordering one for a 416 Ruger I see in my five-month distant future. Standard fill, LOP, etc.?
That's a great looking rig, the stainless complements the lighter tones in the swirl nicely.

I like your set up bearstalker, that Mcswirly looks pretty sweet. Any idea what the recipe was for the stock? (the colors)

That turned out real nice. Kinda regretting selling that one. Might do it again when I finish my Borden build. The rugers look so much better with the matte stainless.
For the others 33% OD 33% Woodland Beige 33% grey

Great improvement on the Ruger .375, but I have to say I would have to paint the stock black. I must be getting old -- I just can't get behind a stock that looks like a bowling ball . Nothing wrong with it if you like it...but I'd have the rattle can out . Hell of a lot better than a Hogue, for certain. Dennis

Is that the Classic pattern? I have one on order in GAP for my custom stainless Ruger MKII .35 Whelen. Ordered it back in November so I still have a couple months to wait.

I couldn't help but take it outside and pop some rounds off with it. Blew a stump apart.

IMHO its what ruger should have done with the Alaskan (and the Synthetic RCM) in the first place.
The collection of taxes which are not absolutely required, which do not beyond reasonable doubt contribute to public welfare, is only a species of legalized larceny. Under this Republic the rewards of industry belong to those who earn them. Coolidge

does that stock have a cheek piece?? Yes, it does. This stock sort of reminds me of the super grade stock.
