I have one in .25 WSSM, I got the gun in a trade and it is very, very accurate. It weighs a lot, it came with a muzzlebrake that I'm not fond of so I'm thinking of having the barrel cut down to balance better.
Everything I have read about Chanlynn barrels said they are top notch but heavy.

Why would they be any heavier than any other barrel? Order a lighter contour

I know what you mean, why would a similar size contour barrel be any different?
I think he just makes his contours a little on the larger size than most. The barrel I got in a trade is a heavy contour and its heavy! (go figure huh?) : )
I'm just replying with what i have read on him, I googled his name when I first got the barrel and everything read says his barrels are on the heavy side.
That being said, I really like mine!

Dennis-several guys from my area are using them and have really liked them.
I've had one it was on my G33/40 and in 338/06. I really liked mine, it shot well, broke in well, cleaned up well and would buy more from him in a heartbeat(that's based off of beeing around multiples of them go from start to end)!

I guess I have a question? What's not to like? They shoot with the vary best. One I had in .308 cal, I've never had a better in that caliber (luck of the draw?)
I place his barrels with the rest of the top makers in our country, it doesn't get any better in this world than that!

He does makes stls tubes as well right, seems to me I've mainly been around the CM's?
By the way, I totally concur 3sixbits with your saying on the bottom of your posts, it is way way true. In person a lot of people would not act the way they do on these forums. And if they did when they woke up they'd need a new hair cut!!!...grins

i've got a couple both SS and CM and my father has a brace of each in various calibers. they've always shot exceptionally. calibers range from 223 to 358. i'd use them with no reservations.
I can't spell... Deal with it...

I have one on my 338-06 and have had a handful of others. Every one of them have been very accurate, no break in and easy to clean up. It does seem like Mark prefers to recommend heavier contours, but I have no problem recommending him highly.

I already have one and am getting ready to chamber it (6.5 1-8.5 twist) but a good riflesmith told me that he has not had good luck with them. Other than what he said, I hadn't heard anything other than a recommendation by Glen Harrison. I just wanted to make sure before I chamber it.

TexasTBagger, I get what you are saying now. I have heard pacnor's contour's (at least the smaller ones) run a little large compared to other makers as well.

Anyone have any contact info. for Chanlynn? Does he use the button or cut-rifling method?
Thanks in advance.

Mark has barreled 3 rifles for me, two of which he also bedded the stocks. I can't be more pleased and plan to drop another rifle off to him this summer when in Colorado. As far as the post about the heavy contours, he makes what you tell him to. If the barrel is too heavy, it's not his fault. Tell him exactly how much cylinder you want, how fast of a taper, and diameter at finshed length. Specify twist rate as well. He has always made exactly what I want, not made me pick from a list of contours. One bit of warning. Some of the calibers will be left hand twist. This won't matter to most and all my long range rifles are left hand twist anyway, so it didn't bother me. He did all the work on these two, although he might not admit it.

A closer look at the bottom rifle in 257 roberts. I specified as little cylinder as possible with a fast straight taper to 0.550 at 22 inches. Turned out exactly like I wanted.

I seem to remember someone telling me that he was trained by Boots Obyermeyer. I had/have a HV 6mmPPC barrel from the mid 90s from him. It was competitive.Dang fine shoot barrel as I remember. dave
Only accurate rifles are interesting.
