GW, what is your honest opinion on the optics? I'm not expecting Zeiss quality glass, but what does it compare to? I know outfitters have sworn by these for years, but I've never looked through one. Thanks.

The advantage Leupold has, which even the high dollar European spotters lack, is eye-relief (30mm). Of the spotters I've used, I'd say the Leupold HD most closely compares to the Nikon Fieldscope III ED in image quality, but the long eye-relief makes the view so much "easier" there's no comparison.

Waputi speaks the truth. The Nikon is a great comparison in terms of optical quality, and teh eye relief makes ALL the difference. I have the same, and wouldn't change my mind even if there were no price difference amongst all the top end spotters. The Leupold will NOT leave you wanting more.

If anyone is interested in the tripod, window mount, hard case, and camera adapters, I'd sell them for $175.00 shipped and will keep the spotter and soft case.
