I have the bufflo classic. when it first came out there was a magazine article covering the the various 45-70 and it was listed among the stronger actions along with the marlin lever actions. so I have been using mine with reloads for the marlin. the first buck I took with it went through both shoulders and an 8 inch oak tree bang flop at about 125 yds...you will love it. I now have had a 243 rifle barrel fitted to it also..

Likely heavier loads than you will out of that rifle.

Yes! The .45/70 NEF's will handle the same loads as a Ruger #1 or Siamese Mauser, altho most .45/70 shooters I'm aware of usually limit their loads to those for the lever-guns, to better enjoy their guns and manage substantial recoil.

I don't yet have a .45/70 barrel for my NEF SB2 Handi in .308W, but I do have the .280R and a .444M is on its way to me.

NEF/ H&R .45/70's will handle the stoutest .45/70+P ammo from Cor-Bon, Buffalo Bore or similar makes.

Ain't that the truth! I shot some 405 Remmy Flat points in front of 55 grains of Benchmark out of my Buffalo Classic, and was impressed enough by them not to EVER want to do anything dumb like that again.

The same load out of the Marlin 1895 was strong, but more tolerable. No issues with pressure out of the H&R, though.
