But I had a heck of a good time at the Quigley. Got to put a face to the name of some of the loominaries of the bpcr world. Shot a respectable score, only 10 pts out from the winners but still in 126th place (out of 629) Sons Bob and Marcus both shot well, for never having handled or fired the rifles they shot until 24hrs before the match started. The week previuous Doc and I made the trip to the Big Hill shoot at Baker Mt. Think that's going to be another one of the gottado deals. Levergun, handgun,22 match and bpcr buffalo match, don't get much better than that. Hope yaawll had fun sittin at home bs'n about shootin on the computer.

Glad you had a good time! I have a question: Is the Quigley Shoot a good thing to visit if a guy does not yet have a rifle set up for that type of shooting, just to see and learn some things? Thanks!

I've never been there (yet), but I'm willing to bet the answer to your question is "Heck, yes!" In fact, I'd be surprised if somebody didn't shove a rifle and ammo in your hands and encourage you to shoot.
I tell folks that the Quigley is to BPCR shooting as Sturgis is to bikers. I note that the attendance figures keep growing, which is pretty amazing considering the state of the economy.

Rexster, on Friday or before, you likely could get to talk with folks and fire some different rifles.Come Saturday it's a rushed up deal and there's really no leisure time and not really anyway a person not on the firing line can handle a rifle. There are however vendors such as Buffalo Arms, C Sharps, Shiloh , and Rocky Mtn Cartridge and a handful of private individuals , so there is a goodly selection of guns and gear to browse thru.
Paul you and Pete really need to try it once. The Big Hill at Baker is a real hoot also.

Hepburn's Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!! [/quote] Yes Kathryn was a good actress, think the best roles she played were in the African Queen and Rooster Cogburn. Not so wild about Audrey tho.

Ranch13, thanks; that is what I wanted to know. I might try to schedule my vacation time next year to include the weeks on each side of the Quigley Shoot. I want to do a road trip through the general area anyway; might as well be when I can see something like this happening.

Rexster, you might want to take in the Big Hill shoot at Baker Mt the weekend before the Q, or the Peabody pass shoot at Rahm ND the week after. Both shoots are a good bit smaller and a mite more relaxed,so there should be plenty of opportunity to talk with folks and handle different guns. Besides all that if you have a handgun , levergun and a 22 bring them along and you can participate.....

Thanks Greg, that ol 75 really got its socks ran off. Bob and I both shot it. and contrary to the misinformation bullshit put out by the Stoval tyke in the ss forum, it has yet to slam fire when you close the breech. You should of heard the warhoop I let out when I cleaned that 380 yd diamond. Bryan Y was setting on the red side, and said "let me guess" you shot it clean....... Was really pleased with Marcus's 24 score coming with my CIJ sharps, first time he ever shot the rifle, first time in a match since he was a shaver and we were doing the buckskinnin thing.
