An acquaintance asked me about the cyls. that are available for cap and ball revolvers to allow self contained cartridge use in some revolvers. The main concern,is one any better than the other? He aquired a Winc.66 replica not long ago and is considering a C&B revolver to go along with it. His rifle is in 45LC. and the R&D and Kirst cyl. conversions caught his eye.
Of course the pistols will be chosen accordingly.
Any experiences with these two companies?
Thanks.Bill

Both are very good. Also they should only be used in STEEL frame revolvers with BP or BP substitute powder cartridges.

The best thing to do is to just get an Uberti or Cimarron complete gun in a replica cartridge conversion. The only downside is not being able to change back to cap and ball. No worry about timing issues or whether the gun is new enough to have hard steel.
