Scott, do ya think Leupold will do a parallax adjustment on that VX-II scope? I am sure thats set as a centerfire scope.

Gregory, I have had good results through the years with Weaver rim fire scopes as well. My little 10/22 wears a simple 4X Simmons scope.

I want this little Marlin to be wearing a better quality scope though. I am throughly pleased with the VX-II Leupold 2.5X 20mm scope on my Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag.

Mannlicher...

I have an ever so slightly used Leupold FX-II 4x33 (gloss) Model #58530 that's surplus for my needs.

Private message me if you're interested. (or anyone else)

Sam,
I've got a Leupold 6X42mm that I sent to Leupold and had them re-set the parallax to 50 yards. It's mounted on a Ruger 96 in 22 mag. Works GREAT!
Was it me, I'd get the 1x4 Leupold, and have it re-set. Don't remember price. I had a dot reticle installed at the same time and parallax adjustment was only like $20. more.
The straight tube scope would look great on your Mountie. (I've got one also)

Sir Springer, thanks for the kind offer, but I really do want a straight tube on this old Marlin.
I believe the 1-4X, with the parallax set to rimfire standards will be the way to go.

I have a very nice older Denver Redfield 1-4X 20mm I could use, but then there is the parallax issue again, and no Redfield to correct it.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I have a Leupold 1-4x w/parallax set at 60yds, mounted on an original Kimber model 82. It is just about perfect and looks great.

Although the page this link takes you to specifies "cheap scopes", the procedure they describe works on Leupolds too. I adjusted the parallax on a 2-7 in about 3 minutes, and I just did an old Redfield 2-7 in about 45 seconds. So, save yourself the postage and payment to Leupold, and DIY.

The saga is complete now. The new rimfire Leupold VX-I 2-7X 28mm scope from Rick showed up today.
The Weaver mount and rings showed up as well, along with a new hammer spur from Numrich Arms.

I spent the afternoon getting everything set up, and I gotta say, I don't think I have ever seen a prettier little .22 Mountie. cool

Beautiful gun.
