Curious to know if anyone hunts with the ol' Colt SAA, as opposed to the current crop of ear splittin' hand bustin' magnums... what are your favorite bullets and loads? Thanks

Thanks I don't, but I'm only an occasional hunter to start with, and when I do I use a rifle. That said, lots of people hunt with the SAA .45. I've heard that most like the classic Keith style bullet, and naturally velocities are kept around 800 fps, so you should probably keep shots inside of 35 or 40 yards. From a stand, that should work just fine.

What happens if he's not in a stand and the deer is standing at 48yds.?
Travis That's where stalking skills come into play. Either that or get a rifle.

Umm...OK. To the OP, any hard cast SWC in the 250gr. range over Unique will not leave you wanting in the deer killing department. Travis

Rabbits! Had a 4 5/8ths Colt in .45 that I had sighted for a load that would stay inside a 6" bull to 80 yards. Did a lot of woods walking with that gun, but as at the time there was no handgun deer season, I had to make do with rabbits. I can tell you it killed rabbits.
