Not to hijack a thread on elk hunting, the only comment I can make on the Scirocco is what Bryce Towlsey wrote in an article about loading the 300 RUM in the American Rifleman several years ago. As I recall he commented on pointy plastic tipped bullets fitting the magazine left a large amount of free bore. He also stated the RUM shot best with a bullet close to the lands when chambered. I consider him to be quite Knowledgeable about this cartridge and now only shoot the 180 gr Swift A-Frame and the 200 gr Partition and am very satisfied with accuracy off the bench. It might be a good idea to practice off hand at close range. just in case.

I feel that this bullet will get the job done at the 250 yard range but my concerns are if a shot presented itself under 100 yards will this bulet hold together and penetrate? I know bullet placement is the #1 priority but I want to have total confidence in my setup. Has anyone used this bullet for elk or similar sized game and how was the performance? I have the confidence in putting the bullet where I want it. I just want to make sure it will get the job done. Thanks in advance.
You will also want/need to put in some freezer wrap.
