My brother and I grew up hunting with our father when we were so small we had to almost jump to keep in his footsteps. Dad drew out on a doe hunt about six years ago and filled his tag. Then up until last year he hadn't been able to go due to our mother's health. We were able to sneak him out for two days last year after we got someone to care for Mom. Now that she is in a care facility Dad is already making plans to spend the ten days with us when we're deer and elk hunting. NINETY-ONE years old and can still climb the mountains. The camp cook (me) is heading back to the tent so the retired cook (dad) can be a little warmer in the camp trailer.

What a great deal. Your father is a lucky man. And you are a lucky man to still have the opportunity to hunt with your father. What I wouldn't give to hunt with my father again.

mcmurphrjk I hear you on that one!
Montanaborn If Dad is 91, you must be a tough grey haired hunter too. Enjoy the hunt, and enjoy the time with your Dad, like you need to be told that... Randy

I'm 58 and the brother is pushing 61. We both hope we have Dad's genes. On top of being 91 both knees have been replaced along with the rotator in one shoulder. The only problem he has is walking downhill so he finds him a stick to assist him when he heads down. He still leaves it up to us 'younger' guys to go down through the 'black holes' while he sits on the mountainside and watches. And yes, we are grey and balding.

When I shot my kudu this spring, my PH told me the horns had three inch white tips. I asked if that was good(yeah I know...I'm probably the only guy who didn't know that) He told me it was like my grey hair and beard, a mark of honour and respect. They have lived a long time, and know a lot.
That has been my attitude sinxce my youth, but I don't get to experience it much now that my headis shiny and my beard mostly white. Tell your Dad I envy him the view from the mountain. Randy

My dad passed five years ago today-I miss him so much and wish he was with me on my adventures (in a way, I guess he is). He was creamated and I took his ashes to Wyoming that fall, climbed to the top of a tall rimrock hill and put them into the wind. I hope there's someone around to do that for me. I'm happy for you, your brother and your dad. Thanks for sharing
