Well, my oldest paint job is on its second day and seems to be holding up fine. Beyond that, I have no experience or expertise on the subject.

Other posters who have used a clear coat say that Krylon Fusion holds up pretty good--not perfect, but well enough that it's still worth doing paint jobs with it. Now you know what I know...

Some folks here would extrapolate that data point to an infinitely durable paint job. laugh

I think it looks great. I've seen some $3K custom guns with less appealing patterns on them.

My stocks are patterned with pine needles. Appropo for Texas. They are professionally painted and are clear coated with an epoxy of some sort. The coating is tough as nails & nearly indestructible. Since you are experimenting, I suggest you find a rattle can of clear coat with some grade of quality and try it. You can get them in satin finish to keep the glare down.

Reloder28,

Looks great! I have a can of Krylon clear coat in a satin finish. If I get time today, I will put a coat of it on. I'll only post pics if it changes the look of the stock--which I am hoping it WON'T.
